Description
Located at the tip of the St Lawrence estuary in the northeast of Quebec, the Île d'Orléans (or Orléans Island) is utterly charming, with its churches with tapered spires and 18C wooden houses, still resonating with the echo of rural life in New France. The bridge built in 1935 to connect it to the mainland has in no way impinged upon its tranquility. Route 368 travels 67 km around it, crossing six cities, varied landscapes (maple and oak forests, beaches...) and affording superb views.
