Useful information

Description

Cape Spear is North America's most easterly point. On clear days, it enjoys marvellous views of the seaboard and the entrance to St. John's harbour. Whales can be seen in the waters off the cape from May to September. Walkways from the parking lot lead to the point itself, where a visitor centre provides a small exhibition devoted to the operation and evolution of lighthouses; you can also visit a lighthouse which offers a glimpse into the life of a lighthouse keeper in the mid-19C.
