Useful information

Description

This château fortified by three surrounding walls and strong towers stands upon a rocky promontory that teeters between the ravines of Lignon and Chagnon. Construction was started in the 11C by the Damas, a family of note originally hailing from Burgundy. The rocky promontory that lies behind the château, to the west, affords a view over the walls of the enclosure as they cling to the rock face above Lignon, and highlights the striking contrast between the rugged ravines of the mountain side and the Forez plain.
