The exhibit here focuses on the entire copper mining and refining process: from extraction to the production of an anode, a large 99 percent copper ingot weighing about 290kg/639lbs. After touring the home of Edmund Horne, discoverer of the Noranda Mine, visitors enter a railway compartment where a film on mining and the history of the region is presented. Finally, everyone is invited to don helmets and boots to visit the surface installations of the smelter.
