Description
The port of Rotterdam was extended in 1970 and then again in 2013 with the construction of Maasvlakte and Maasvlakte 2 on land reclaimed from the sea. Built especially for huge oil tankers, the chemical industry and container ships, these areas were the subject of environmental studies (underwater noise, air quality, the transport of larva by fish from the North Sea etc) prior to their construction.
