Description
The former Centraal Station (1957) was demolished to make way for Stationsplein, a super-modern station capable of managing high-speed trains from northern Europe and all alternative transport modes to the automobile, including Randstad Rail and the Rotterdam-The Hague-Zoetermeer intercity railway. From Stationsplein, note the Grand Café Engels, work of architect H. Maaskant, on the corner of Groothandelsgebouw (1953).
