Useful information

Description

Pope Julius III's former summer residence (16C) is today a museum entirely dedicated to Etruscan Art and Civilisation. The highlights of the museum (which can be prolonged by a visit to the sites) include the sarcophagus of the "spouses" dating from the late 6C BC; the Euphronios krater, one of the most beautiful examples of Ancient Greek ceramics; the Veii sculptures; the Ficorini cist (coffer); and the Chigi olpe (wine pitcher).
