Useful information

Description

As you walk down the Via Sacra, you come to the Curia, which was restored by Diocletian in the 3C and then again in 1937 after the removal of St Adrian's church which had occupied the building since the 7C. The Curia was a consecrated place where an augur could communicate to the people the wishes of the gods, a ceremony which took place before every sitting of the Senate. Today the Curia houses the bas-reliefs of Trajan, 2C sculpted panels depicting imperial life and sacrificial beasts.
