Useful information

Description

An artificial hill some 35m high, created from the debris of amphorae from nearby warehouses and Ripa Grande port, Mont Testaccio is also known as the "Monte dei Cocci" (mountain of broken glass). The hill has given its name to a lively district, buzzing with trendy bars and restaurants. The site of major rehabilitation projects, its former abattoirs now house the Mattatoio, the city's Museum of Contemporary Art.
