The largest national park in India, the Corbett Tiger Reserve is named after the hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett, whose reserve set up Project Tiger, a foundation which aims to save the Bengal tiger from extinction. This is the best known of the Indian reserves, situated on the banks of the Ramganga in the foothills of the Himalayas.
