Description
A genuine technical feat, the temple-mountain of Shiva (47m high) forms a 30m-quadrilateral, topped with a 6-degree pyramidal roof. Each façade is flanked by an arched staircase that leads to a small chapel housing a statue, all of which are masterpieces of Indo-Javanese art. Admire the exquisite outer decoration: an open-air gallery runs around the temple, whose parapet is graced with 24 bas-relief panels, narrating the epic Ramayana.
