Some 160km/100mi north of Sydney, this winegrowing valley along the Hunter River cuts through a hilly region to whose vineyards its owes its reputation and wealth. Dozens of wineries will keep you busy with wine tastings. Motor down winding lanes, admiring the vineyards, meadows and farmsteads that endow this region of Australia with an almost European countryside feel, were it not for the occasional kangaroo hopping into the picture!
