Description
The road that links Pinhel to Figueira de Castel Rodrigo has been dubbed the "Excommunicated" by the region's inhabitants on account of the countless twists and turns that it takes through the wild and rocky Serra da Marofa. The summit of the serra (976m) is a good lookout point, especially over the fortified village of Castelo Rodrigo, whose ruins stand on high ground.
