Bordering the Museum of Fine Arts, Fairmount Park (1855) is one of the largest urban parks in the world. It stretches along the Schuylkill River, towards the northwest, and encompasses Memorial Hall (a Beaux-Arts building from 1876), the Azalea Garden, beautiful in the spring, and the Horticulture Center with its Japanese pavilion, Pine Breeze Villa. Philadelphia Zoo and the Fairmount Park Houses, 18C-19C residences overlooking the river, are also worth seeing.
