The Michelin Guide's review
This pleasant park is spread over most of the peninsula of the Sleeping Giant. Its high cliffs command fine views of Lake Superior. At the end of the road are the remains of the village of Silver Islet, where a rich silver vein was discovered in 1868. The vertical vein yielded $300 million worth of ore up until 1884, when the shaft, which had reached a depth of 400m, was flooded.
