Useful information

Description

After buying a variety shop in 1852, Aristide Boucicaut and his wife quickly went on to establish Paris's first department store. The couple was innovative both in terms of running the company (staff training) and doing business (customers entering freely, set prices, exchanges, sales, mail order, household linen displays). Today, Le Bon Marché remains true to its reputation for quality and its Grande Épicerie is popular with foodies.
