Useful information

Description

This theatre company, led by actor François-Joseph Talma, was founded when Louis XIV ordered Molière's company to merge with that of the Hôtel de Bourgogne. In 1792, it established its home in the Théâtre-Français (modern-day Comédie-Française), built by Victor Louis. Inside, note the famous seated Voltaire by Houdon and the armchair in which Molière died suddenly on February 17 1673. It is well worth attending a performance there, if only to gaze at one of Paris' most beautiful theatres.
