Useful information

Description

The two tall red-brick towers of the town hall act as beacons for boats heading into the fjord. The sumptuous interior features colourful frescoes retracing the greatest moments in Oslo's history. It is here, in the huge ceremonial hall, that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded every year on 10 December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death (1833-1896). The other Nobel Prizes are presented in Stockholm, Nobel's home country, by the Swedish Academy.
