Description
This open-air museum of Hungarian country traditions lies in a hilly, wooded area protected by a national park. The villages have kept their thatched cottages, their fields studded with wooden belfries and their hiking trails skirting the river. Őrség has managed to develop its brand of ecotourism with airs of an enchanted countryside. You may be lucky enough to spot European bison and Eurasian horses, two traditional species of this region.
