Description
In the heart of Novi Sad, this square boasts a splendid ensemble of urban architecture. Superb buildings stand around the statue of Svetozar Miletic (1826-1901), mayor of Novi Sad and leader of the Serbs under Austro-Hungarian domination. The town hall (1895) with its majestic colonnaded forecourt, the huge Name of Mary Church (1895), the former building (1892) of the Yugoslav People's Army, housing the Vojvodjanska Banka, the former Savings Bank (1904) and Tanurd?ic Palace (1933-34).
