Mount Abu is famous for its extraordinary collection of Jain temples, which are surrounded by giant mango trees. Built in the 11C, the temple of Vimal Vasahi boasts a breathtaking array of carvings, notably in the dance pavilion. The delicate work is explained by a local tradition: it's said that the sculptors were paid according to the weight of the dust they collected, which encouraged them to produce ever more intricate carvings!
