Description
This gallery, which grew out of the enthusiasm of a single man, Pavel Mikhailovitch Tretyakov (1832-1898), takes you on a fascinating journey into the rather unknown world of Russian painting. From Nikitin to Vrubel, Kiprensky, Ivanov, Perov, Repin and many others, it takes you through the changes that occurred in the art form itself and in society. And if that wasn't enough, you can finish the tour by viewing its extraordinary ancient icons, several of which are the work of the renowned Andrei Rublev.
