The Cathedral of the Saviour, which you can see on entering the holy gate of Andronikov Monastery, is the oldest stone building in the capital, built between 1410 and 1426. Like many Russian churches, it is decorated with elegant kokoshniki. Inside are the Baroque Church of the Archangel Michael, the monks' refectory, and the fascinating Andrei Rublev Museum of Early Russian Culture and Art, where a host of ancient icons is on display.
