Useful information

Description

This large property was built in 1785; its steeply pitched roof pierced by two rows of dormer windows and carriage door leading to a rear courtyard make it characteristic of typical French Regime houses, while its neo-Classical appearance dates from renovation work which took place in 1831. The house was owned by six generations of the Papineau family, including Louis-Joseph Papineau (1786-1871), leader of the Patriot party, who lived here off and on between 1814 and 1837.
