The Michelin Guide's review
The fortress of Beçin, built by the emirs of Mentese to control the entrance to the Milas plain, stands on top of a steep cliff, from where the views provided it with a natural strategic advantage. The panorama is perhaps more hypnotic than the ruins of the fortress, which themselves are highly evocative. The small medersa nearby, built by Ahmet Gazi, whose tomb remains a place of active pilgrimage, is also worth a visit. This pleasantly grassy site is also perfect for a picnic or lazing in the sun.
