This 19C cemetery, a neo-Gothic design by Carlo Maciachini, is worth visiting to take in the grandiloquence of its funerary monuments; some are veritable palaces and were created by well-known sculptors such as Mosè Bianchi, Medardo Rosso, Francesco Messina and Giacomo Manzù. Writer Alessandro Manzoni, painter Francesco Hayez and musician Arturo Toscanini are buried here.
