Useful information

Description

Located at the entrance to the Vieux Port, the MuCEM features a contemporary building designed by Rudy Riciotti (a dark cube overlaid with concrete lacework built on the former "J4" pier) and the historic Fort St Jean (restored ramparts and walkways, towers, inner passages and vaulted rooms), whose ochre outline bears witness to the city's long history. An impressive footbridge connects the two buildings. The collections inside are an ode to the Mediterranean, its history, art of living and heritage, but also its present. Don't miss the Galerie de la Méditerranée on the ground-floor of J4.
