Description
Initially a simple fortress (14C), the Gripsholms castle visible today was built by Gustav Vasa. It now houses the national portrait collection comprising 4 000 works from the 16C to the present day. The highlight here is the second floor with its remarkable decor from 1770-1780. Admire also the elegant theatre with its original 18C stage machinery.
