Description
The imposing neo-Gothic Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, built over the period 1928-39, is the largest religious monument constructed with reinforced concrete in Latin America. It houses a large gilded wooden baldachin and has superb stained-glass windows. In front of the cathedral, on the square, is the Bolívar-Cóndor, a statue by Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt, which pays homage to El Libertador.
