Description
The mandala of Borobudur, a treasure of Buddhist art, constitutes a majestic architectural complex, comprised of a 10-level pyramid adorned with 1,460 low-reliefs and over 500 statues of Buddha. This tropical stupa, older than the city of Angkor, is among one of the world's most stunning architectural masterpieces (and a Unesco World Heritage site). The view from the surrounding hilltops gives the full measure of this site, set in a landscape of volcanoes and rice fields.
