The seat of the Cao Dai religion since 1927, the monastery comprises several buildings (dormitories, offices, refectory, printing workshop, power station) dotted around 1km2 of grounds which are also home to the Cai Dai Great Temple, built from 1933 onwards. A pagoda, cathedral and Taoist temple all in one, its kitsch and baroque style of architecture is a perfect reflection of the syncretic philosophy of the Cao Dai religion.
