Useful information

Description

Hammersmith's most attractive area borders the river. Lined by houses with flower-decked balconies, the river frontage was developed from the early 18C. Today, yachts have replaced the barges which used to negotiate the river. Pause in front of Hammersmith Terrace, a row of 17 near-identical brick houses; stroll along Upper Mall with its venerable pubs and Lower Mall where Hammersmith first grew up. Hammersmith Bridge is a suspension bridge built from 1884 to 1887.
