Useful information

Description

Built from 1895-1903 it is well known for its bell tower (82 m) that is finished with a dome from which there is an attractive view. The interior has an impression of immensity yet of harmony. The nave, the largest in England is topped with three domes with unfinished decoration. The main pillars carry the 14 Stations of the Cross sculpted by Eric Gill. The Virgin and child on the right crosspiece, sculpted by the School of Nottingham, was originally placed in Westminster Abbey.
