Useful information

Description

A village whose origins predate the 12C, Merton was the residence of Admiral Nelson from 1801 to his death in 1805. The arrival of the railway in 1838 transformed the village into a London suburb in less than 50 years. Uniform blocks of flats and small houses occupy certain parts of Merton Park and the area around the railway station.
