Useful information

Description

Founded by the tea merchant and Member of Parliament Frederick John Horniman (1835-1906), this museum was built in the late 19C by Harrison Townsend in the Art & Crafts style. A real treasure trove, the museum is dedicated to ethnography (tribal masks and buddhas), zoology (an aquarium) and musical instruments (lutes and bagpipes), and is surrounded by a pleasant park. Ideal for children.
