Description
This old hamlet is criss-crossed by streets and squares, all of which are lined with 19C terraced houses. Canonbury Square, where George Orwell lived, is the most perfect example. Canonbury Grove, with its cottages, and Alwynne Road, with its villas and semi-detached houses, have a certain charm. The remains of a 16C manor, Canonbury Tower is the former country house of Sir John Spencer, Lord Mayor of London.
