The museum's highlights include major works by German and Dutch Old Masters as well as German paintings from the 19C. Designed by a firm of Berlin architects (Hufnagel, Pütz and Rafaelian), the 36m-high glass cube building consists of a vast entrance hall lit by a well of light.
