Useful information

Description

This architectural folly was built in 1846 by Alexandre Dumas at the peak of his literary career following the success of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers. The author hosted all of Paris here and nothing was too much for him, as witnessed by the exuberant Moorish Room and the Château d'If, a neo-Gothic pavilion home to his work study. The grounds are further embellished by caves, rockeries and springs gushing over waterfalls into pools. Even today, fiction and reality come together in this writer's residence.
