The fish market of the port of Kesennuma is open to the public. A footbridge was added to enable visitors to observe the frenetic activity of this market which processes the entire catch of one of the largest ports along the north-east coast of Japan. Skipjack tuna, swordfish and shark, but also shellfish (oysters, sea urchins) fresh off the boats are packed and sold before your eyes. This amazing sight is a reminder that this area of the Pacific is one of the richest in the world in terms of fish.
