The SS Moyie was the last paddle wheeler to navigate on Lake Kootenay. When it ceased sailing in 1957, Kaslo residents immediately set about restoring the grand old vessel. Today its mahogany woodwork, brass fixtures and elaborate ornamentation are intact and gleaming. Staterooms, crew quarters and cargo holds are all outfitted just as they would have been around 1920. A reconstruction of a prospector's shack on the shore provides a sharp contrast and depicts the harsh existence early miners endured.
