Description
Since the 18C, Ando brewery has specialised in the manufacture of miso and soya sauce. The lovely late-19C buildings it occupies in the merchant district of Kakunodate are definitely worth a look. In the shopping section, look out for the two brick attics (kura) which house a reception room and a café/library where you can taste some of the establishment's produce free of charge.
