The Michelin Guide's review
This river flows into Toyama Bay. The numerous boats at anchor bear witness to the bay's thriving fishing industry. You can walk along the canal, lined by fishermen's homes and cherry trees, and admire the bridges, each of which is different. Look out for Sannobashi Bridge in particular with its unusual enormous carved hands. The site is well known throughout Japan as it has featured in many films and because of the Shinminato Hikiyama Festival (Oct 1st) featuring 13 wheeled floats.
