Description
It was here on 5 August 1962 that Nelson Mandela was arrested while he was travelling incognito in a car. He was only released 28 years later on 11 February 1990. An exhibition here recalls the event as well as the life of Madiba, as he was also known. You can also admire the extraordinary sculpture depicting the portrait of Mandela projected onto 50 steel columns varying in height between 6.50m and 9.50m and representing the bars of a prison cell behind which the face of the prisoner is visible.
