The Michelin Guide's review
Established in 2008, Vatnajökull National Park is the largest nature park in Europe (12 000km2). Surrounding the vast glacier of the same name, it comprises the former parks of Skaftafell and Jökulsárgljúfur. It is also under this glacier that Iceland's hotspot, Grímsvötn volcano, is located. Boasting a stunning landscape of craters, basalt columns and waterfalls, the park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.
