Useful information

Description

This is one of the largest Fine Arts museums in Germany. As well as sections on the Middle Ages (see the altarpiece by Master Bertram von Minden), the museum's main attraction is German painting from the 19C, with a focus on works by Caspar David Friedrich. The modern era includes works by artists of the Brücke and Blaue Reiter groups. Germany is also well represented in the contemporary art gallery, with works by artists such as Richter and Beuys.
