Useful information

Description

Originally a stronghold, the castle with its impressive tower used to control the river. It gained historical importance when the Tyrol rulers transferred their mint here in 1567. It was in Hall that the silver thaler, accepted throughout Europe, was minted until the early 19C. The castle is home to the Mint museum, where you can make your own commemorative coin, as well as the municipal museum which is dedicated to the history of the town.
