Useful information

Description

In a modern and spacious building designed in 1996 by the architect Tange Kenzo, the Uragami Museum exhibits an impressive collection of almost 5 000 ukiyo-e (or pictures of the floating world, Edo-era woodblock prints). Among these are Hokusai's famous Thirty-six Views of Mt Fuji, including the Great Wave of Kanagawa; black ink drawings by the same artist, portraits of Kabuki actors by Sharaku, and courtesans by Utamaro. The museum also has an extensive collection of Korean and Chinese ceramics and porcelain.
