Started in 1279, this was the residence of Bishop Gottfried of Ösel-Wiek diocese. The walls of the bishop's castle are still standing, and give an idea of the scale of this building when it was completed in the 16C. It continues to shield the Cistercian-influenced Cathedral of St Nicholas. The surrounding wall also houses a small museum, the collection of which includes medieval weapons.
