Established in the 18C Sénatorerie mansion, the museum boasts very diverse collections: archaeological (local finds from Prehistory to the Middle Ages); Asian art; Gallo-Roman statuary; sculpture from the Middle Ages to the 20C (Rodin and Camille Claudel). Also on display is a magnificent set of champlevé (chased) enamels illustrating Limoges enamel work from the 12C to the 15C. The art section contains a sweeping panorama of 19C French art, with a particular focus on the Creuse valley.
