Located on the lands of the Kuku Yalanji Aborigines, Daintree National Park is home to Daintree Rainforest, a primeval 125-million-year-old tropical forest, i.e., twice as old as the Amazon! This sanctuary is part of a natural region that extends from Mackay to the south of Cooktown to the north, by way of the tablelands of Atherton. The forest is part of 900,000 ha/2,200,000 acres of national parks and reserves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
